Crud at the bottom?

Morning all -

Just mixed up a WInExpert kit (my first go at wine). Feeling slightly guilty, as I left it for almost 10months after receiving the kit as a present last year. Hope that won't have done it any harm.

So I've put in:
  • 30g of bentonite dissolved in 2L of hot water (pretty hard to 'dissolve') with 1/4 of a Camden tablet
  • 15 L of juice (plus the sediment rinsed out of the bag)
  • topped up to 23L with 6L of cool tap water
  • 2 packets of dried yeast (marked 'K1-V1116' and 'EC-1118')
1.085 on the refractometer which seems about right.
I'm just wondering what is this layer at the bottom of the FV?
