I always top up after racking for clearing as you need a bit of headspace for degassing especially if you use a drill and degassing wand.

Bubbling has ceased in airlock now, half way into 12 day secondary fermentation, but bizarrely the water in it seems to be being sucked up now. Not quite to the point of dripping into the demijohn yet. Is this normal?
Got it set up to turn heatpad on at 21c and off at 22.5c, could it be down to the fluctuation in temp?

6 days into the secondary fermentation (halfway) and the bubbling in the airlock has ceased, but it now seems to be sucking the water, almost to the point of dripping into the demijohn. I've set the temperature controller to come on when it drops to 21c and to go off at 22.5c. It appears that the cooler it gets the more it sucks :), something scientific occurring I guess. 20181222_233459[1].jpg 20181222_233504[1].jpg 20181223_004225[1].jpg 20181223_004232[1].jpg

Yes, gasses expand when they are heated and contract when they are cooled.
