Morning all. I'm after some thoughts on the design of my first neipa. I can't store many varieties of hops so I can only use what I've got: galaxy, rakau and pacific gem. Only a 5l batch for my first try.
Any alterations or changes? Cheers

Not a NEIPA expert but I think you need some oats and or wheat in there too, adds to the haziness............

I'd stick all your boil hops in at the end of the boil. I've only made one but they went in after I'd turned the heat off.

Ah I knew I'd forgotten something. I've added 5% wheat to get a new of of 1.075 and fg of 1.016 and put all the boiling hops to 5 mins to get an IBU of 43

You can go much more than 5%, why don't you add some oats too, a decent load will give you a creamy mouthfeel and a nice haze.....watch out for oxidation though......

Ditch the Munich. Add wheat and oats. At least 10% of both. Ditch all the boil hops. Do a big whirlpool for at least 30 mins.

Dry hop in 2 stages. First stage at high krausen, only use 10% of your total hops at this stage. Second DH for 4 days. I would aim for about 100g hops overall.

What yeast are you using?

Why only boil for 20 minutes?

Wlp 007 I know its not really to style but being dru it should let the hop character through and from what I've ready galaxy can give a harsh bitterness when used for bittering so only a short time.
Cheers lads I'll get some oats and up the wheat

You want an early dry hop for a bio transformation, this will create the haze you need

I've found just the sheer amount of hops required for NEIPAs gives me the haze. Always found it bizarre that highly flocculant English Ale yeasts seem to create a hazier beer in this style too.

I do hazy pales with less hops than a neipa, my latest ones is the hazest to date

New recipe looks great, I'd think that will work well........as I said before, be careful about oxidation or you'll have a tasty but brown coloured beer.
