GF have just introduced Firmware 1.8 for the G40, which gives the option to vary power during the boil. I used it today and it really is a great feature: I boiled at 85% power, which gave a nice rolling boil without the excessive activity of a full power boil. A small saving in electricity and a useful saving in steam generated. This will be a vital feature in using the G40 with a steam condenser, which I intend to do during the winter months when humidity is higher and steam is harder to blow away with a fan.

I bought this one:

I also bought a 90 degree tri-clamp elbow, because I want to use it with this lid (I do not want to cut a hole in the G40 while it is under guarantee):

The nozzle which came with the steam condenser is too big and would waste a vast amount of water. I need to get a different nozzle and I have found this video very helpful:

Good luck with your G40!

Thanks that helps a lot.

The G30 has it too, and it's a great feature. With a graincoat on it I did the boil at 40% and it was still rolling! My utility room was far less steamy, which will be fantastic come winter
