I live in central Scotland and have been brewing several years. I recently started drinking Grolsch so i could keep the swingtop bottles.

recently i cant get them. The local Morrisons, sainsburys, Asda no longer stock Grolsch at all. Is this a country-wide thing? I even joined Booker Cash & Carry as they had them advertised on their website but when i went in to buy they were out of stock and an assistant informed me there was a "supplier issue".

Is this the end of the swing-top Grolsch bottle?

Anyone know where i can get swing-tops with beer in? I quite enjoy drinking them first and would be loathe to have to buy empty lass bottles!

Interesting - historically the UK has always been a big market for Grolsch, I wonder if there's some disruption relating to their owners Asahi buying Fuller's, like they are now taking distribution in-house and haven't quite got it up and running yet. Looking at Mysupermarket, the only place that seems to have Grolsch is Ocado, at £2/450ml. B&M did have some great deals on empty swingtops, but seem to have given up - Wilko have them at £9/6x500ml

Flensburger beer is a good shout. Usually available through here but they are also occasionally in Aldi around Christmas, so keep an eye out.

They are indeed. Is that a bad thing? I quite like the 330ml sizes, makes it more acceptable to have a beer on a school night.

Whilst I already have a full stock of bottles, I've also noticed that swing top Grolsch are less common. Local Asda had some last time I was there (4 for £6) but Sainsbury's didn't have any. Looking on MySupermarket, none of the major supermarkets have it listed! Have you got a "The Range" near you? They sell boxes of 12 brown 500ml swing tops reasonably (or at least they were reasonable a while back).

No, it's not a bad thing at all. I have loads of 330ml (not swing tops though) bottles. It's just that the OP asked about grolsch, which are of course 500ml and may not be aware that Flensburger are 330ml. Might pick some up myself

I think Grolsch swingtops are 450ml not 500ml :coat:

The beer isn't half bad either. There's the Gold and the Pilsner. Both linked for ya :)

Oh, its a supermarket only brand - I have been asking in a few local pubs, in the hope of them having some surplus Grolsch bottles - no wonder I was getting blank looks.

That’s the end of an, admittedly very minor, homebrewing era right there! I’ve got 60 odd grolsch bottles currently full of RIS, they’re the most reliable in my opinion for keeping pressure. All of the bought swing tops I’ve got 80 from the range and 90 330mls from homebrewonline, let by to some extent over time in storage.

I started collecting Grolsch bottles last week. I have a grand total of one. So much for that endeavour.

The past few years, Aldi have had a German/Austrian lager in store just before Christmas in swing top bottles. No idea if it'll happen again this year though...

I liked the 450ml size. Contents fit nicely into a pint glass when over a bit carbed or &/not cooled enough... :( Also, useful to explain to shwmbo why I can drink six...

I bought 40 from eBay not long after I started brewing. I've bought collector's items :laugh8:
