    Brought a wilko chocmeister stout kit.put a kilo of sugar in for first fermentation.does it need anymore for second fermentation because like an idiot i threw the instructions away

    I wouldn't have thought so. Secondary fermentation isn't about adding more sugar. You'll need a it more for priming the bottles, though.

    Just let it ferment out.
    It depends what temperature you have it at. Although the ferment would probably finish in 5 or 6 days.
    Most people would leave it another week. So 14 days in the FV all up.
    Then when bottling you'll have to add more sugar or dextrose.

    Going to do 2 weeks in the bin 2 weeks in a barrel and bottle a few

    Are Wilko giving up on homebrew. I went to their Newton Abbot store for brewing sugar and they had none or much else either, same in Warrington.

    How many carbonation drops in each bottle for stout?also if i just barrel it can i use brown sugar instead and if so how much?im making 23 litres

    Hi Leic, if it's a pb I never go higher than 90 grams I have never used brown sugar but can't see why not, carbonation drops are a waste of money I use one sugar cube per 500ml bottle, every body has their own way acheers.

    I stopped using household Sudan because I read somewhere it gave the beer a banana flavour, is that correct?

    Can,t say I have had banana flavours using T&L think that's from certain kinds of yeast strains ie Belgium acheers.
