Have got everything ready to go
Wife bought me a kit in 2016 but never had time. Now have loads of time
I opened the old bucket and managed to crack the lid so just bought another one with the beer and it has no hole in the top
Am I ok to drill a hole and use the old grommet before I sterilise it

You could do that or do as many members do and leave the lid loose allowing the CO2 to escape

Might drill a hole in new bucket and use Grommet it and airlock in the new bucket

then might use old bucket with cracked lid for other tin
Am I ok to glue the crack
And put a solid grommet in the hole

Does the lid to the new FV click in place tightly? if it does then yes you can drill a hole in the lid with no problems and reuse the sanitised grommet

I presume what you are saying is that you have a new FV and the lid fits tightly, the reason I ask and need an answer is because you can buy FV's with a floppy lid that is not good for having an airlock.
