Okay I know I'm preaching mainly to the converted here, but for anyone else considering it.....

This weekend's brew gave me a first chance to test drive my new homemade wort chiller.....

As you can see, it's 10m x 10mm copper pipe (about £20 from Wickes) bent round a paint can, a couple of 10-15mm push fit couplers (a couple of quid) and some hosepipe and jubilee clips (free after a rummage in the garage) - took about 20 mins to make it.

..... And I have to say I'm stunned! My last 10L brew took 35 mins to cool in an ice/water bath, this time it took a mere 10 mins to go from 95-20degC. The thermometer dropped like a somes, to the point where i was asking myself if it was broken!

Really pleased with this, it's very cost effective and I have the satisfaction that I made it myself - thoroughly recommended! ;-)
