Dishwashers should be banned full stop, and tumble dryers in summer, dishwashers are for lazy people clapaclapaclapaclapaclapaclapaclapa
Tumble dryers actually generate water so the best thing you can do in a drought is to use a tumble dryer instead of all that water evaporating and being lost to the atmosphere. Steam is also a greenhouse gas so a double whammy.

Dishwashers are great for cleaning bottles and various miscellaneous parts of your brewing system so they're an essential item.

Only Southern water and west Wales have bans or are planning them. UU have said that they are unlikely to issue a ban.

I only do a 6 litre boil at most usually just for the hops mainly really and top up to 21 litres with campden tablet treated tap water, . a couple of frozen bottles of water would cost about 50p and reduce the pitching temp easily. In fact I did a partial ag last week and didn't need to use them I pitched at 26c.

What you've got to do is water the lawn well to keep it nice and green. Then a few days later it will have grown because of all the watering so then you've got to mow it, preferably at unsociable hours. 7am on a Saturday is best, with a leaf blower on stand by to make sure no grass gets on the paved areas, like a doorstep or high footfall pavement. The bin will then of course be full of grass, so then you ring up the council to make sure the bin men are coming on time and stand watching the bins until they're emptied. If you get bored waiting, you can water the lawn to pass the time 👌 all very straight forward really

I followed sadfields link to save members going off site here is the info -

What are the rules of a hosepipe ban?
  • Don’t use a hosepipe to water plants or clean your vehicle
  • Don’t fill – or clean - a swimming pool, paddling pool, pond or fountain
  • Don’t use a hosepipe to clean windows, walls, paths, patios or decking
  • Don’t use a hosepipe to cool off in the heat
But you can use other water sources, like using your mains water supply but with buckets or watering cans instead of hosepipes, or using stored rainwater from a water butt.

What’s the penalty during a ban?
Anyone found not following the rules could be prosecuted in a criminal court and fined up to £1,000, under section 76 of the Water Industry Act 1991.

What’s allowed during a ban?

  • Usig a hosepipe for health and safety reasons
  • Watering newly laid turf for the first 28 days
  • The watering of newly bought plants for the first 14 days
  • Watering plants that are grown for sale or commercial use or that are part of a National Plant Collection or temporary display
  • Filling or maintaining a pool in which fish or other aquatic animals are being reared
  • People who are paid for car washing, window cleaning and graffiti removal can still use hosepipes
  • Operating water features with religious significance
  • Filling new pools, or those with religious significance
  • To prevent or control the spread of disease or invasive species
When was the last hosepipe ban in the UK?

The last official hosepipe ban in the UK was in 2018. Before that, there was one in 2012.

How long will a ban last?

A hosepipe ban will end when there’s enough rainfall to fill affected reservoirs.

Why are hosepipes so bad?

Using a hosepipe to water the garden uses 1,000 litres of water an hour.

This water shortage and ban is a good thing, since the press have been exposing the obscene salaries paid
to the company directors, the discharge of sewage into rivers, and of course, the huge amount of water
lost, due to leaky pipes.

Guys, I'm sure last time there was a ban, some enterprising forum member contacted their supplier who confirmed that brewing wasn't affected by a TUB (aka hosepipe ban), but for the life of me I can't find it (perhaps it was on JBK?). Can anyone remember that? I'm kind of remember is was classed as cooking or something.

I would ask my supplier but they have already said we won't be getting a TUB this year.

Correct! It's on JBK. Well remembered!
