I have had a leak and lost all my CO2, doh! So, I need to change my cylinder.

Can I just check the correct procedure for changing it without blowing myself up?

1. Turn off cylinder
2. Pull the relief valve thingie to vent any gas in the regulator itself
3. Slowly unscrew the regulator bolt and remove

Is that right?

I'm probably way too late, but:

Yes it is right, but disconnect the "low pressure" output from any pressured kegs first (pull the gas-in disconnects off if using Corny kegs). Many regulators, because of the design, will vent any pressure on the low pressure side when the high pressure side (connected to the gas cylinder) is completely vented.

Thanks folks. On closer inspection, it appears I had turned the primary regulator down to about 11psi for some reason, which I had forgotten, so assumed it was running out of gas (I have my primary set to 30psi usually, and set the secondary to whatever I want the keg at). Turning the primary back up to 30 and all is well.

What a Muppet!
