I respectfully disagree with you here.

How did you arrive at this conclusion?
He was acquitted ,
I watched a good bit, saw only innuendo and childishly fabricated tweets, the usual Pelosi kangaroo spectacle. .
But I'll let you hang the Orange man anyway. I mean, he's Orange, isn't he?
When Biden last left office, along with Clinton, Obama, etc,. As a result of their policies, people they had armed were selling slaves in public squares in countries they had reduced to failed states.
Trump was elected because of their failure and corruption, I don't care if he's Orange as long as he's not bombing the Middle east like the previous 4 incumbents.
You carry on with the witch burning if you like.

I prefer the term "fookin' legend"

I can see why people could buy into him being innocent of inciting the actions of his supporters on the 6th of Jan. He never said 'go to the capital and **** **** up' but he said plenty that implied that's what he wanted those people to do. To the point that the most common defense those people are putting up when questioned in court is 'my president told me to go there and fight'.

McConnell agreed that he was guilty but then voted against on the technically that you can't convict as Trump is out of office, but that matter was already voted on so Mitch was clearly just playing to the Trump base. Painful to see but not surprising in the least.

I'm just looking forward to trump running in 2024, splitting the republican base and then many glorious years of Democracy 🤣
'most common defense those people are putting up when questioned in court is 'my president told me to go there and fight'.
Well they would say that,
But he clearly didn't.
Can you imagine the blm rabble- rouser they caught there or that antifa thug with the horn hat they captured there paying any attention to Trump anyway?
He was hosting a peaceful rally of many thousands at the Whitehouse lawns at the time that odd mob ripped the cinema seats.

I have no interest in hanging anybody, to be honest.

In fairness I would never defend US foreign policy in the Middle-East nor was I a fan of Obama's drone use in Yemen.

You are correct, Trump was elected, among other things, because of the failure of the US system.

I'd be interested on your version on the chain of events that led to the attack on the US capitol.

Think you will find the guy with the horned hat is more QAnon than antifa.

Trump was highlighting massive electoral 'problems' in swing states and was hoping ' dueling electors' sent from those states after many hearings exposed corruption and the case ignored by the Supreme court. Those ' dueling electors ' were sent from the State Senates, constitutionally, they ought to have been counted.
A peaceful rally of many thousands to show support was organized.
Weeks before it had been discovered the usual suspects, (Harris and Biden had been championing as they rioted during the summer) were to cause a ruckus to disgrace the Trump rally ( they had been paid to do by Dems, with vid evidence to prove it on youtube now) as they had during the campaign. This warning from the FBI,
Trump offered National Guard help but it was rejected by Capitol police, Facts that came out in this last kangaroo court.
Timeline of the day shows the mixed mob of angry nutters wrecking the place at the same time (ie, before Trump even took the stage to speak, the mob were there) Trump was about to address a massive , PEACEFUL gathering of many thousands at the Whitehouse where he stressed, ' peaceful, and patriotic reason for the gathering to support the Republicans in the Senate who were to object to electors sent, as a result of corrupt electoral counts.
Trump had nothing to do with the mess there but it's clear others could've prevented it. It was always going to play into the hands of the Dems who'd been riding the riots all summer for electoral gain.
Vid footage of antifa people being escorted to the capital by police has been taken, lots of odd people were at that ruckus.
Harris even bailed them out to get them back on the streets for Pete's sake.
The rigging of the election had been long planned, the problem was that Trump wouldn't give up as they'd been caught at it with their pants down. I saw people locked out of the count and the count taking place behind closed doors, ( illegally)in the early hours of the morning.
I KNEW then it was bent, Turns out that was the place they caught them later with security camera footage scanning tens of thousands of dodgy Biden votes.
It's a conspiracy theory to suggest this was a straight election in the face of the mountains of testimony, physical and statistical evidence etc,.
Think you will find the guy with the horned hat is more QAnon than antifa.

Wearing a horned hat or Q anon, whatever that is is equally nutty to me.
There were lots of odd characters in the rabble and many caught up in it unawares probably too.
It does not make Trump responsible, they had individual grievances I'd contend.

What are your sources here?

All challenges were thrown out of court. Can you please put up some of the sources of your evidence.

Thanks

I had to politely put a couple folks here on "Ignore." I can get that nonsense on FOX's website Comment section.

In any case, Senator McConnell decided to play both sides of the ball. To reiterate, if an impeachable offense occurs the day before a POTUS leaves office, what do you do if not apply the full weight of the House/Senate?
Is justice served by acquitting the ex-POTUS? No, but it does have the benefit of pointing out that 47 Senators lost their integrity somewhere along the way.
But he was impeached and that is a statement of record.

If all what your saying about the election, and the supreme court made up with mainly right wing judges, is true then I'm afraid America is no better than any corrupt third world country. Personally I think there is to much fake news put about to muddy the waters. I tend to stick to more reputable news sources.

It would be fascinating to see what would have happened if it were a secret ballot rather than an open ballot.

I heard this morning that the 7 Republicans that voted for impeachment are either not running again or are in very safe seats.

secret ballot
Me too. I wish I could do more than speculate but I would guess it would easily have gotten 67 votes of "guilty."
Anyone on the Republican side (conservative) is getting backlash/censured for stepping out of line. And this isn't just by some voters, this is by state governments done offiicially.
With our Democratic Republic, technically, it's not a straight democracy, if you get my meaning.
This is going to chase decent conservatives away and push the party (if it still is even a party) to the extreme right.

I just want to make another, long comment on the "accuracy" of the news media where some of these illogical views, made above, originate. FOX and OANN are the least offensive of the very offensive but complicit in spreading disinformation.
I'm not harping on small infractions--some deceitful, some honest mistakes. I'm talking about the real whoppers that are damaging and done intentionally.
FOX's Tucker Carlson was exonerated in a slander suit by HIS FOX lawyers who said he's not to be taken seriously (said here just to point out his unreliability). His station pushed election fraud and voting machine fraud (baseless accusations that were debunked, basically, to infinity).
OANN literally has (had) some guy on their payroll that worked for the Russian state media. I'm pointing out the mammoth conflict of interest here.
FOX and OANN pushed videos as "proof" that there was election fraud. They played a cut-up video from Rudy Giuliani (the ex's lawyer) of an election site counting ballots. This was debunked by Republicans. This is just one example.
A top official from the state of Georgia (Republican) spent some time debunking conspiracy theories on TV of his own accord. Note: Any Republican who came out and spoke the truth received death threats and some had to go in hiding.
The ex-POTUS is the most notable conspiracy theorist and it is proven he has passed on countless, unverified conspiracies (when he used to have Twitter).
FOX and OANN made retractions for the voting machine nonsense because they were going to be sued.
Every point I make above can easily be Googled and verified. It's not an opinion but from video and statements made by those involved/referenced.

Evidence was not heard in court.Often told 'no standing' etc,
Few cases actually were given hearings.
The fraud was not investigated in courts, That is the problem.
But the fraud doesn't go away because you don't look at evidence.
Hearings in State Senates ( pushed for because of stonewalling by partisan courts) heard evidence and caused competing electors to be sent by the legislators as a result , watch those proceedings and then I'll believe you are serious. They are compelling.
Evidence doesn't fade away because you won't open your eyes, and in this case live streamed and on video, it was witnessed by millions.
When court orders are needed for election workers to be allowed back to watch a count they are supposed to verify, as happened and known numbers of dead people vote, election officials ignore subpoenas served to examine machine integrity etc,. and in most of the swing states, the state election laws were broken in one or multiple ways you are pissing in the wind to expect people to 'unsee' it.
You can continue with the 'Orange man bad' stuff if you want. If your evenings go better that way, fine.

Unfortunately, ' reputable news sources' are often little more than propagandists.
'reputable news sources' might report from a BLM riot, for instance and ignore the town ablaze behind them and declare the rioting ' a mostly peaceful protest'.
A court ought to have independent judges and not be politicized,
I fear you may be right, like in the Third world, too many people enter politics in the States and somehow end up Billionaires as vested interests line their families pockets for some reason.

Nope, the BBC is pretty well respected as a news source.
I think that's not generally the case anymore.
Nope, the BBC is pretty well respected as a news source.
Many would not agree. They've been caught out too often being partisan and ' economical with the truth'.
They are typical of any 'state run media' I'm afraid, no better than any other.

It was 'debunked' by the 'republicans ' who were complicit in electoral fraud.
Who hid from courts trying to deliver subpoenas to properly audit counts.
People who engage in electoral fraud have a tendency to ' debunk' evidence.
That 'top official from the state of Georgia', might be the main culprit, he certainly ran roughshod over the states electoral law, plenty want to look at his bank account.

One the radio over the weekend they were saying now the impeachment is finished he could now face several criminal charges. The main one being attempted corruption over his phone call to the Georgia governor asking him to "find" some more republican votes.
The New York state attorney general has been investigating trump's business practices for a while. He might end up getting charged with bank, tax, and insurance fraud now that he doesn't have being president to hide behind.

The reason trump was out of office when the impeachment trial began was McConnell refused to call the Senate back into session while trump was still president.
