Having improvised a few things recently, I thought I'd post a few of them in the hope it might help someone else..

For starting a yeast culture / rehydrating - i picked up a couple of kilner preserving jars from Morrisons £2 (or £1.25 as they had put the wrong price on!)

You can boil the jars and put the rubber washers in at 80deg (i put the washers in the kettle and leave the kettle lid up for 5mins, and put the jars in the sterilising bucket)

I find the jars are wide enough to get a micro hand whisk into (also boiled in the kettle).

Larger jars are £3 - good for tapping wort into to store for starters.
