I've noticed that the ambient conditions have a huge impact on how vigorous a boil my 30l Burco cygnet can manage. I boil outside, and a chilly Lincolnshire wind can mean that it can only manage a light rolling boil. Warmer and still conditions mean it can pull of a full volcano like boil.

Do you think that this is something that insulation would resolve? If so, what is good to use that won't melt - camping mats any good? How many layers?

All ideas very welcome!

I got a role of radiator insulating foil stuff from screwfix for my burco. I brew outside and get a good roll, was about 12degrees in shade in Gateshead yesterday and no problems.

Enough for 3 layers, and my kids to make a space helmet each wink...
