Morning all,

Was transferring an all grain NEIPA from pan to a demijohn yesterday and the plastic 'tap' on the end of the tubing fell in the demijohn. As the demijohn was almost full at this time, I couldn't see the tap so left it. Will the tap contamimate the brew or will I be okay to let it ferment until bottling stage?. I don't have a spare demijohn so transferring to another is currently out of the question.

Should I discard the brew to be on the safe side?

Thanks

Don't get rid! The worst that's going to happen is that it's going to taste rubbish. I think the damage will have already be done if there is any, if you can't get it out then leave it, the hops and yeast could potentially kill any nasties.

It’ll be fine. I’m not entirely sure I know what has fallen in your demijohn though.

If the tap is on the vessel you’ve boiled in it’ll be fine.

If it’s to do with the tubing you transfer with then you should have sanitised it beforehand anyway so it’ll still be fine.
