It does thanks @LisaMC . Interesting to see your first hop addition is 30 minutes (assuming it's a 60 minute boil) which is what I do now. Gave up on 60 minute bittering hop addition (I'm sure it has it's place in some recipes) in my pale ales. Much nicer drink
Nope, I don't do 60 minute boils any more - only 30 mins.

Forgot to mention - I used my own tap water for this brew (with campden etc) - I normally use only Tesco bottled water.

Apparently you add it 10 minutes from the end - but it takes half an hour to dissolve, so you need to mix it with wort and leave it to sit, keeping stirring now and again. It's amazing, I recommend - only used it once but my wort is the best it's ever looked. I wanted to try it, to try and eliminate the chill haze.

For me, what ended chill haze, was also acidifying my sparge water to a pH of 5,0 - 5,5. Got a much better hot break, and after bottling, my beers cleared much faster, also at low temperatures.

What's with the demijohn for the blowoff? Why don't you use a spunding valve?
We only have one and I’m saving it for my Vienna lager which is going in the fridge.

At right, any reason for having a big demijohn, can't you just let the co2 disperse into the room, or you thinking the yeast will escape

Brewday number 2 successfully completed. Jim’s espresso stout. He’s planning on flavouring it with cold brew coffee at the end.

Last brewday of 2021 today. I'm making a Golden Promise only beer, just using up some of the hop stash. Just heating my mash water now.
