I try to not brew when my girls are up or about. Firstly, I don’t want to take time away from them and secondly they always want to help, and I have trouble keeping everything sterile by myself.

Well, with the emergency Christmas beers and wine needed a little help came. I explained about wine and how it needs to be kept clean, she helped move stuff round the kitchen but kept sticking her head into the bottling bucket. Telling her she needed to be careful, because of her hair she ran away and came back with .....

I would be keen to bring her along more often, if it wasn’t for the comments like ’you don’t need one of these daddy, you’ve lost all your hair’

My kids (5 and 3) love helping to mash in, figure that's a reasonably safe point to help and they mostly scoop the grain for me and occassionally give it a stir.
