A friend of mine has just given me 6kg of rhubarb, on the deal that I give a proportion of the wine in return.
Sounds alright to me!
I also have 5kg of blackberries (more appearing every day!!)

Stupidly I only ordered one pack of wine yeast - gervin wine yeast gv9

Is it possible to make a big starter from this and have enough yeast to spread across all my wine brews?
If so, what would I make the starter with? And how much of a starter should I make to do 3 DJ of rhubarb wine and 3 DJ of BlackBerry wine?

Any help appreciated, as I plan to do the lot in one go this weekend.

Yes you can multiply your starter. In fact I think its a good idea. Personaly I never add a packet of dried yeast direct to the must.Another method is to split making your must into 3 ie start off 5 lts after 2 days add 5 ltrs and so on ect.Make sure the must additions are well areated. the yeast will auto multiply to critical density (this is good)
