I have just fished brewing this I think I say I think because the reading I am getting is 1020 and it has been like that for a week or so I have tried Stirring it but it has made no difference

Did it come with a proper sized yeast sachet or the rubbish 5g job that they include with some kits (e.g. Woodfordes Wherry, though supposedly now with more yeast). Upshot is that it's probably stuck, should get down to 1.010 - 1.014. Try raising the temperature a degree or two, giving it a gentle stir and maybe add some yeast nutrient. If that doesn't work then you could try pitching some more yeast but it's harder work for it to get going in an already partially brewed wort, you could build up a starter then introduce some of the stuck brew to get it used to it.
