A mate and I have invested in a Grainfather and two GF conical fermeters. We're lucky to have a brewshed (shared with garden machinery and a million spiders). The forum, especially the advice on water treatment, has already helped and our brews are improving.

A few spiders = good to catch flying insects. A million spiders = bad as spider poo rains down so I have to cover everything. I've thought of using an insect 'bomb' but SWMBO is a tree-hugger and says they've got squatters' rights
