I've just had a bottle of Thwaites " Old Dan " after my dinner. a strong bottled condition ale at 7.4%.
Very nice and fruit cakey !
What I liked about it though there's a nice list of ingredients listed on the reverse, listing Maris Otter,Pearl and crystal Malts and Fuggles and WGV's English Hops. Even got the name of the brewer. Nice and informative.

I have, but hadn't got any DME or anything handy so used boiled water and a bit of sugar.
After 3 hours theres no sign of any activity.......but.... there's a eight of an inch of debris on the bottom of the jug that wasn't there before. We'll see what the morning brings...

its not really good to use sugar as when you actually use it in beer the yeast has a job recognizing the sugars in the brew spraymalt or wort from a brew is the best way of growing yeast

like chewing a piece of fruit cake...lol nice
