Overhauled Beer Engine

I‘m about to strip down and overhaul my beer engine as it is really dirty, having been laid around in a closed pub for awhile. My question is after putting it all together and running some starsan through it would it be ok to leave starsan within the cylinder.

Is it a metal cylinder or Plastic?

I personally would not leave starsan in it. Over time it may prove corrosive to some components or would lose its acidity through absorption from the air so may start going off.
I clean mine through with Chemckean and then flush with clean water getting as much out as possible but accepting it probably will not be dry. If not using for a while I flush it through ever few weeks.
