Hi all, I use a large pub co2 bottle for my corny kegs, but I would like to carbonate up a keg of cider for my brother and take it round his. Fine, until there isn't enough co2 left to dispense.

What could he use co2 - wise to top up , so he can keep pouring ?

Midget widget too expensive, is there a way of getting sparklet co2 into the gas in valve or possibly sodastream cylinder ? What connections would I need.

Thanks in advance

check out ebay for cyclists co2 bulb tyre inflators.. then all you need do is attach a corny gas in disconnect, if ptfe tape fails there is always JBweld.. there are some 'corny top ups based on this idea already put together but they come at a premium cost. not ideal as you have no idea of the pressure but will add gas ok..

Here is a different option.

Watch a vid from Harry brew on sediment. He uses a valve from car tyres and a gas tube with the pump valve. Just simply carb up some coke bottles and freeze them for 10 mins and it's ready to drink.

Maybe he wants it from a keg but it's a lot cheaper this way.

I got a converted CO2 fire extinguisher, it's a good deal smaller than a regular bottle. I'm looking at maybe getting a paintball bottle for portability though. My local CO2 supplier will fill them, I just need to find a nice small regulator I think...
