Does anyone have any recommendations for beer and food related places to visit in Prague?

Heading out there tomorrow - I imagine the beer is amazing and cheap. :thumb:

There's a little brewpub called U Tri Ruzi which does some great beers (and food), their DIPA is fantastic, definitely worth a visit. Also Strahov monastery near the castle does good food and beer too

Plus the hard rock cafe in Prague. The best of the 6 or so hard rock cafe's I've been to. Amazing building.

You don't have to drink lager in prague, but if you do it will be the best lager you've ever had :thumb:

Thanks for that. Will have to try vkolkovne - Having been born in Liverpool in the late severnties I never got to experince the 60's but kind of reminds me of some of the clubs in Matthew street and alike.

Oh it was years since I went but yes there was some nice and cheap beer there.. Obviously try and avoid eating in the square as its pricey there but moving further out you can get some cheaper and nicer food and drink..

Back then I did mostly just drink the pilsners but it was lovely pilsner IIRC

Enjoy anyway, it is a fantastic and beautiful place

it's the john lennon pub that's like liverpool  and the john lennon wall is not far away.

I love http://www.havelska-koruna.com/en/ which is between the Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square. It's like an old style Communist canteen with cheap food and beer. The beer is good, the food is variable but the atmosphere is fun. The staff will scribble your selections on your ticket and you pay on the way out. Worth a visit.

We did these two today which was good because it matched up with where the missus wanted to go.

Had some great beer and food in U tri ruzi. The pork knuckle was immense. The xmas beer was good but the dark beer was fantastic. The ipa at the monestry was also good

Sorry I missed this Darkbright but my reason for getting into brewing was visiting a pub in Prague called U-Fleku.

I'm sure you had a wonderful time, I've been twice and I'll be back again. No matter where I went I got great beer but it was the black lager in U-Fleku that made me want to brew (maybe give you an excuse to go back :) ).

I loved the food also, the dumplings and sauerkraut made everything special. I also had the pork knuckle a few times.

Glad you enjoyed it.

I’m still here until Monday afternoon so will definitely try this one if I can. Found a craft beer place to try tomorrow evening with 21 taps so should be good. Thanks for the tip.

There's a cocktail bar called Dean Martins I think....just round the corner from that there is this pub with a copper vat in the bar. Decent beer and a decent pork knuckle

It is possibly over commercialised now, it has its own gift shop and prices are slightly higher than you'll find elsewhere but the black lager is outstanding. Refuse the shots they bring as they are a lot more expensive than the beer. It's also a bit tricky to find and to the outskirts of the city center. The place is massive and has it's own brewery on site but there should still be a fair crowd at any part of the day.

There are a few recipes for the beer for you to make when you get home.
