Hi there
I have been brewing for a couple of years but mostly from kits, apart from wine I make from scratch. I wish to start brewing real ales, I have a book of traditional recipes and a 25 litre fermentation vessel (plastic) but I only have a 1 gallon pot that can be used to boil the wort. In my 5 gallon recipes is it feasible to just divide the quantity by 5 and boil 5 consecutive gallons or not? I am currently off work for injury so purchasing a larger vessel at this time would be problematic.
Thanks!

Absolutely no reason why you can't do that. But it would bring in increasing risk of getting germs in.
And sparging would be an absolute PITA.

have you considered a hybrid kit? I used to do those before I bought an all-in-one boiler.
You should be able to do that with a 1 gallon pot. Use your own ingredients, but where it says malt, use Spraymalt rather than a tin of DME.

I found that much more acceptable. Plus use bottled or treated water. That makes a huge difference.

If you are just boiling yes. But what a pain in the a#se, it will be. 45min boil x 5 goes. Really?

Thoughts....
Nip to the charity shop ours often have big pans in.

Consider an old burco.

And.. Don't boil what you don't need to. Mash at the minimum ratio, and top up the fermenter with cold water, which will also help bring the temp down (as does ice)
