Now that Grolsch is no longer being sold in the UK, does this mean that there is no longer a reasonably priced shop bought beer in a 450/500ml swing top bottle in the supermarkets? I havent seen any in Aldi (Birmingham) for a while. I am resigned to having to order empty ones but before i do I thought it was worth asking the question here incase im overlooking a beer available just off the beaten track.

Apparently tesco and Asda stopped stocking it so Asahi decided to stop brewing it all together which is a bit gutting as i like the bottles and although the beer isnt amazing it isnt the worst!

You used to be able to get Bernard Czech Schwarzbier in brown flip top bottles in Tesco. I was gutted when they stopped selling that. You can buy beer in flip tops from beersofeurope.co.uk
They are a bit low on stock at the moment, but they still have quite a few to choose from.

Order great beer direct from Germany :) Works out cheaper than beers of europe and a lot fresher imo

you have to email these people to order to the UK, but it works out a little over £2 a bottle delivered, you need to order by the 30 bottles

Obviously a bit limited by the relatively few brands that do swingtops. But a lot of the normal wheat beer bottles are reusable ones, so very good for homebrew too

Aldi gets the swingtop beers in as specials a couple of times a year but has never had them as part of its core range.

Some great links there Hanglow!! clapa

Never considered buying beers from Europe as you'd expect the postage to be way too high. The low cost of the beers offsets the delivery though, which isn't too bad anway.

I'm filling my basket as we speak!! Cheers! thumb

Cheers for the suggestions all, will definitely be looking into hanglows links!

I'll be resuming the Lidl shops now things are calming down too so I'll also be keeping an eye out for them there

Thanks for the tips Hanglow, just ordered a case of 24x 500ml from web-bier, worked out at £2.19 each including UK delivery.......much cheaper than beers of Europe even though they are only about 30 minutes away from me by car. It's going to be a tough job emptying them ;-)

Which beer did you go for? Looking to put my order in today

I went for Hacker-Pschorr Munchner Dunkel as I prefer the darker styles. (I believe you can mix and match beers along as you order in multiples of 24) My order (placed this morning) is already marked a despatched and on its way to UPS for delivery here on Tuesday.

Good choice, ive just put my order in too for 24 Hacker-Pschorr. Thank you again Hanglow, You should get commision!

I also tried to order from Biermarket.de but so far they haven't responded to my e-mail....I hope they do as they have a nice range of styles I like, in swing-tops
