I’m an all-grain brewer using a 3-vessel single-tier setup, and I need to invest in a new brewing stand. When I got into all-grain brewing I was on a budget, so I bought some cheap Ikea Lack tables and bolted/dowelled them together. Initially I had a 3-tier configuration and then repurposed to single-tier with pumps fitted to the table legs.

This frugal stand has stood the test of time, I’ve had it for years, but needless to say I don’t think it’s going to last much longer.

What do you guys use for a brewing stand? A lot of the Googling I’ve done shows stands designed for a gas setup, whereas I’m all-electric so don’t need holes underneath for the burners etc. I do need the ability to fit pumps, and would like it to be wipe-downable...

Thanks for any advice/photos you could give!

Would a stainless catering bench be any good?
I’m not convinced by a catering bench. I like that they’re easy to clean, but the surface is probably much too high for a brewing stand, and I’m not sure how well they’d cope with all the weight. I’d be intrigued to hear if anyone else has tried one of these.

I'd go for a standard kitchen work-top either resting on a couple of work-benches or on support legs. i.e. Something like this worktop ...

... gives a 3000 mm x 600 mm x 38 mm work surface that can be drilled and screwed as required from either side. The top is heat resistant and (with the back edge sealed) it is impervious to water and most brewing chemicals.

For the supports, two of these ...

... would provide two shelves, support the work surface with up to 600kg load and leave a 600mm gap in the centre which is enough room for a Brew Fridge.

In my garage I inherited a laminated work top that is supported at the back with a wooden lathe bolted to the wall and at he front with intermediate supports similar to these ...

They are positioned so that a Freezer, Brew Fridge and Dryer can be fitted in between the legs. They are a much cheaper option than the two work-benches. Luckily I had some spare shelving that I could fit underneath in a spare bit at the end.

Hope this helps. :gulp:
