What a good idea. I got a sous vide wand for the missus for Xmas when I should have given her access to the Braumeister. Rats!
I will probably get the vacuum packing gadget (and reusable bags) anyway - also useful for storing hops.
 
I still don't have a vacuum sealer; but it's not necessary for sous-vide cooking. Any BPA-free bag can be used and held up with box clips. The vacuum bags are only needed if you plan to sous-vide and then refrigerate.

Very true...but love the sound of vacuum sealing!
 
As an alternative take on this thread - I use my sous vide machine - {intended to cook meat/turkey) to keep my BIAB mash at a constant temperature

Hi.
My Sous vide stick is on the blink....so why not looking at my GF for my meat.
Managed to get the medium we prefer, 62c 3.5hrs for steak 1.4" thick.
Looking fwd to researching.
