Sparging

I read that you should sparge until there is a reading of 1005. Is that at sparging temp or do I correct that for temperature. :wha:

I usually sparge until I can no longer taste the sweet wort, not scientific but it works for me

The purists would say that if it tastes like tea you are over sparging as the "tea" taste would be the tannins being extracted from the grain.
But if it works for you then it's good :thumb:

exactly. when i get towards the end i sparge into a jug and empty and taste regularly. when it tastes like tea - that jug doesnt go in.
