Supermarket Oats vs Simpsons Golden Oats

Do you think there would be any discernible difference between them both in a variety of styles from an Oatmeal stout to a NEIPA.

Naked golden oats 2.85/kg
Tesco Scottish porridge oats 1/kg

FWIW I use Asda smartprice porridge oats in recipes asking for flaked oats..

Naked golden oats are a crystal malt made from oats. Flaked oats are not a direct substitute.

Not a cock up. While not a direct substitute for golden naked oats regular flaked oats work fine in a stout.

Yes, I didn’t realise golden oats were a crystal malt. I presumed they where not.

Commercial porridge oats should have a beta glucanase rest at 40C for about 20 mins, depending on the percentage of the oats, really just to stop you getting a stuck mash.
