Not updated this for a while.
Recently passed my first year of all grain with 24 batches brewed - not bad average of just under one a fortnight.

My last three have been an American Amber Ale and an American brown ale using Columbus for the first time and an American pale ale using Centennial now in the brewfridge.

First time you've used First Gold?!! You'll like it I reckon, one of my faves.

Yeh I seemed to remember seeing it in a few of your brews and thought I'd give it a try!
I like EKG and read it can have a similar earthy, spicy, floral tones.
Also saw it described as orangey and thought it might work well with a bit of Admiral I have left.
Or maybe do it as a single hop, that's what I usually do using a new variety for the first time.
Do you use it for bittering ?

Yeah orangey and spicy is how I'd describe it I think. I really like broadside, that uses first gold and I think it's very orangey. I dont seem to be able to emulate that though, the admiral hopped beer you sent me was more orange than I seem to manage with first gold.
I have bittered with it but tend to use challenger/magnum as I think it adds more as a late hop.

Have you tried ernest? Tried my newest pale on saturday hopped with ernest and bramling x. I think I'm going to try a few variations of pale with it, really nice.

Waiting to see how you've gone about your first gold ipa!
Went with the Admiral to bitter, but most of IBU's from 15min addition and hopstand of First Gold.
Grain bill;
Simpsons pale ale Finest Maris Otter 90%, Crisp Cara Gold 7%, Simpsons dark crystal 3%
Hit OG of 1.054, volume up a bit which was nice. Pitched Malt Miller NBS classic English ale yeast at 19c and now sat in the brewfridge.
I made a similar really drinkable IPA with EKG and hoping for something up to that.

Can't open the brewfather app,not to worry just wondered what were your ibu's?

More than a year since I posted on here but I have been brewing though not
so much recently.
In that time I've brewed another dozen batches of pale ales, bitters, IPA's
Steam beers and Pilseners using a range of UK, US and NZ hops.

Most recent was another ESB based on a recipe that worked well in one of my earliest brews, this time pairing Fuggles and Goldings.

Batch #37 Fuggles & Goldings ESB

18L batch
BIAB (no sparge)
24L total water

ABV 5.4%
OG 1.054
FG 1.013
EBC 25.4
IBU 40

Maris Otter 3.4Kg
Cara Malt 350gm
Dark Crystal 150gm
Chocolate 50gm

Fuggles 20gm 60mins
Fuggles 20gm 15mins
Goldings 10gm 15mins

Fuggles 40gm hopstand @ 80c 60mins
Goldings 40gm " " "

Goldings 50gm dry hop

Lallemand Nottingham, pitched at 19c

OG up 4 points at 1.058, volume spot on.

Nice to have a brew chugging along in the fridge again, now planning
a pale ale using some of a stash of Kiwi hops I've yet to try.

Yesterday I dry hopped my ESB after checking gravity.
Got down to 1.011, a couple of points lower than predicted but OG was also down two points so ABV as per recipe and 79% attenuation from Nottingham yeast.

At same time I checked my Moutere and Motueka pale ale which I brewed last weekend.
https://share.brewfather.app/U3Bh3n2pm5dZMVThat too had finished after six days, at 1.010 and 80% attenuation
from US-05.
I'll leave it till day 11 to dry hop, sample tasted promising with good clarity
and nice light straw colour.
