hi,

hope someone can help, got my first brew of nelsons revenge on the go yesturday, just checked the temperature and it was 26c which did seem high. The brew is fermenting but didn't know if I could drop the temperature with fear of ruining it. It does state on the box it should be 18-20c.

It would be best to get the fermenting beer to 20 deg c if possible.
If you ferment beer at too high a temperature it can lead to undesirable flavour compunds being produced by the yeast.
These flavour compounds may be unpleasant, and can range from fruity to harsh alcohol tastes.

I hope that helps :thumb:

cheers mate, do have a heat belt on so will take it off and see if it drops much.

Thanks for your help.

managed to get it to 19.2c. Would the 36hrs or so it was at 25c in anyway ruin the brew?

you'll find out when you taste it :drink:

i reckon it should still be drinkable. it may have some quirks but i reckon it'll be ok ;)
