I am glad they have taken the tough decision and i hope Jeremy who has made a fortune off the misery of others now shares some of their misery as an out of work TV presenter.

The Jeremy Kyle Show axed by ITV after death of guest.

    ITV's statement in full:

"Given the gravity of recent events we have decided to end production of The Jeremy Kyle Show.

"The Jeremy Kyle Show has had a loyal audience and has been made by a dedicated production team for 14 years, but now is the right time for the show to end.

"Everyone at ITV's thoughts and sympathies are with the family and friends of Steve Dymond. The previously announced review of the episode of the show is under way and will continue.

"ITV will continue to work with Jeremy Kyle on other projects."

Damian Collins MP, chair of the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport select committee, said the broadcaster had made the right decision.

"However, that should not be the end of the matter," he said. "There needs to be an independent review of the duty of care TV companies have to participants in reality TV shows."

Programmes like The Jeremy Kyle Show risked "putting people who might be vulnerable on to a public stage at a point in their lives when they are unable to foresee the consequences", he said.

The committee will question broadcasting executives and regulators. Love Island, another ITV show, has also come under scrutiny after the deaths of two former contestants.

The Jeremy Kyle Show was the most popular programme in ITV's daytime schedule, with an average of one million viewers and a 22% audience share.

More than 3,000 episodes have been broadcast since its debut in 2005. Following Mr Dymond's death, ITV initially took the show off air and suspended filming.

As a child, I was taught, 'don't wash your dirty laundry in public'. Why do people crave so to be on 'the telly'? The ghastly TV people are parasites in this instance.

I like the way he used to give people greif for gambling then have adverts for bingo during the break.

I'm proud to be able to say I had never seen an episode- never been a great TV watcher, Star Trek aside- and when my good lady started telling me about the horrors of his show, I had to look up a few snippets on YouTube. "Depraved" is the adjective that springs to mind! How is that entertainment? What our society needs is more and stronger beer, and then another pint, to widen the grin of joyful well-being on our collective face.

Right, that said, I'm going to look for a spider so I can slowly pull its legs off.

A couple of years ago, a neighbour of ours in the HMO next door was a guest of JK. If you think these freaks / losers / pond dwellers / oxygen stealers etc etc were bad on the telly, y'ought to have experienced them up close and personal. Most of the sympathy for them would then evaporate. Fortunately for us, we moved away before anything more serious than the physical assault that my missus received took place.

I watched a bit of the first one years ago and withing 15 minutes realised it wasn't the sort of thing i was interested in, i have read anyone changing their mind would be asked to pay the hotel bill which they couldn't afford so they had to go on the show and the care team they put in place to look after the "guests" left them out in the cold the moment the show was over, i am surprised this show lasted as long as it did and its a shame it took the death of a guest to bring this information to light.

Over the years the show has been on, I have watched maybe 20 minutes total, comprising of perhaps segments of maybe 4 shows.
I have no idea how the show managed to last as long as it did. Literally every aspect of the show was revolting. There are some quite dim and stupid people out there, and it's not particularly their fault they're stupid, but Jeremy Kyle's holier than thou pontificating and ranting at them was probably the most disgusting element. I can only assume that a large number of beefy security types were poised just out of shot, because I'm amazed someone didn't ever deck him!

It's about time.... and I won't miss it one bit.

They had security to keep the guests from ripping each other apart and i am sure there will have been times they had to save holier than thou Jeremy who has a face you would never tire of punching..

Aw c'mon, it was quite amusing when they were at it hammer and tongs and no-one forced them to participate. TBH I thought they were actors and it was all scripted until the neighbour I mentioned went on, and what happened recently.

No-one forced them to participate, that's right. But when you bribe people who've got f@ck all and f@ck all going for them with being the centre of attention for half an hour, a free hotel, free travel and a free bar in exchange for them making a spectacle of themselves then some will take it. It's nasty, exploitative shite.

    NO!! Don't take the bait.
I know it's difficult not to respond - but all you end up arguing against is a stereotype, not a person. A poster who, from what I can see, has no really serious opinions about anything but, for whatever reason, likes to oppose moderate, reasonable views and promote unpopular (and where possible extreme, possibly nasty) viewpoints about pretty much everything.
Please just ignore! Don't give an excuse for even more posts from such a peculiar, bigoted, deeply unpleasant point of view.

Lining them up then shooting them down. The only reason some people watch this is to have something worse to compare things against. Good riddance.
