Made me laugh when he said "Just by looking at it"

The big fella had a point why don't they cap Champaign bottles if they are so much better.

That accent - putting cocks in crockery bottles is a dangerous practice but probably easier when he was a little boy in his dads pub.

I cap my champagne bottles with crown corks, you need a bigger bell on the capper and bigger caps than on beer bottles, very convenient though.

I use the champagne bottles to put homemade wine in as it's a lot less faff than a cork. Also good for the Saisons.

I believe they cap Champagne for the second fermentation prior to disgorging after which it's corked. I like the opening of a beer bottled with a cork to be fair, shame Leffe switched to caps on the big bottles as it made them a bit different.

'How did could you tell it was the capped bottle?'

'It had a smoother taste like cask'

Possibly proving Guinness's point about hygiene, that the Cask and capped bottle lacked a little sharpness from microbial contamination or the affect of oxygen on that.

I notice he happily downs the offending beer in one. 🤣
