Torrified Wheat Sub

Hi all

In the absence of torrified wheat for tomorrow's brew day, a Midland style mild ale. Has anyone had any success subing out the wheat for whole rolled oats. I picked these up during the weekly shop this afternoon?

I always use some oats when I brew a mild.

Shredded wheat is probably a better substitute.

Yep. It’s 100% whole wheat, nothing else. I used it the first I did a witbier after getting my grain mill and finding the wheat wouldn’t crush. Turned out great.

I suspect the Torrified Wheat is there for head retention, raw Oats have the opposite effect.
