I did the Youngs American Mocha Porter back in September and everyone liked it, but I personally thought it could handle a bit more 'oompf'! So, I've bought it again with a view to doing a few additions on the brew next week.

I'd welcome any thoughts or guidance on my plan.

What I had in mind was
  • 100g of cocoa nibs added in in FV - boost the chocolate. Not sure if I'm ok to add these direct. I'm sure that I read somewhere about infusing them in vodka putting in the freezer and skimming off some fat to help head retention?

  • Cup of expresso coffee. Again welcome guidance on volume and adding it in the FV or corny keg when conditioning.

  • 100g of lactose in the FV. Possibly a bit more of a curve ball!
Yes, I realise it's not true Porter style and that it will sweeten it a little, but hopefully that will be balanced by the other additions whilst giving a bit more body/creamy mouth feel. Worst case I can always call it a Latte!
Anyone done any other mods to this kit?

I'm not adverse to doing a mini mash if anyone has other options.

Thanks.
