Had my Grainfather for over 2 years now and brewed batch 42 today. Am I the only one to have the counterflow chiller upside down all this time? Not sure it makes a huge difference but I stumbled across this video (2:50) which clearly states it's one way and not the other. Oh well, let's hope this beer is even better than those that went before it.

I am pretty sure it makes absolutely no difference. Three instructions say that you should have the hot part at the top as hot liquid will naturally rise due to convection. But convection is tiny compared with the flow rate of the wort and the cooling water, so I'm sure it makes no difference.

I can't see it would make much difference either tbh. What I have noticed, however, is that having it the 'right way around' gives much less room for manoeuvre when it comes to where you put the chiller and the pipework.
