Andrzej one of our team at Geterbrewed is Vegan and is very passionate about it, our online homebrew store is constantly getting enquiries about vegan homebrewing so we asked Andrzej to do a quick video explaining what to look our for as a Vegan homebrewer.

If you need help making your homebrew kit vegan friendly add a note in the comment box and we will ensure all animal derived products are removed.

At Geterbrewed we are proud to offer vegan friendly products and want homebrewers to be able to brew beer, cider, wine , spirits and even make cheese in a vegan friendly way. For our commercial brewery customers we also stock a range of vegan friendly finings & process aids.

Be aware of Isinglass, Gelatine & Chitosan these can be removed without having any impact on flavour . The benefit of homebrewing is that you control exactly the ingredients that are used and create an honest and true vegan friendly brew. Other products to be aware of include: Casein / Potassium Caseinate which is a protein found in cows milk. Speaking of milk lactose is also something to be aware of as its used in many modern craftbeers currently, these flavours can be created using other products.

Don't use charcoal for filtering unless confirmed that no proportion is produced from animal bones. Diatomaceous earth which comes from fossils or sea shells is also a product used in filtering in some commercial brewhouses. We have options like Super F & Protafine vegan friendly finings

Glyceryl monostearate (GMS) is an emulsifier and an animal derived product used to control foam. Another foam stability product is Pepsin which is sometimes derived from pork. We have natural hop products that can be used for foam control to avoid this. Hopaid Antifoam and Lipohop K In summary we have vegan friendly homebrew and commercial brewery products that allow you to retain total control of what goes into your brews ensuring their is no animal derived products.
