I'm planning to make a Baltic Porter, 5kg, 15L BIAB full-volume no-sparge.....
I have very hard water so I'll add half a Campden tablet, 5ml lactic acid and 1g CaCl to my water - standard for me and this beer style.
No problems there, all straightforward enough.....
But since there'll likely be lots of fermentable sugar left in the grain I plan to stick the bag in another 10-15L water to re-mash and get a second batch of lower gravity beer for free.
How do I approach water treatment for the second batch?
I'd add half a Campden tablet anyway...
Beyond that would I just do my normal water treatment again or do I need to factor in the fact that the grain is now wet and contains less sugar then at the start?
With nothing more than a Campden tablet added to the water I'm sure it'll still make beer, but no problem to give it a nudge in the right direction.
