Tell Mrs Hagrid, they're only a batch, if they're baked stuck together and coated with flour.Mrs. Hagrid knows it as a batch?!
Can remember the joys of a bacon cob from the student union when I was a student in Leicester. Here in the south east it seems to stick to being a roll. Here in Leicester it's a cob, and you'll get looked at like you've got two heads if you call it anything else.
In sunny Lancashire where I was brought up it's a barm cake, which is both correct and ties in with the theme of the forum.
Blasphemer I will set the ghost of Fred Trueman on you :tinhat:How can it be a friggin cake? It hasn't got icing and a candle. Blooming Yorkshire folk. Grrrrrr.
