Just getting started after a day at the beach

I’m having a pint of my attempt at making Punk IPA from their published recipe. I’m going to have to try and figure out what I did wrong because it’s nothing like Punk IPA!

I’m not even sure I like it but I’ll press on for the moment because that may just be because it’s not what I expected.

sampling my hoppy pils, a little disapointed with the lack of hoppy flavor. tastes like a lager. definitely going back to a dry hop for most beers, especially the less hoppy ones.

after thinking a bit more maybe I don't like lager malt and lager yeast together, tastes boring and easy to drink....

what's the recipe? I'm not a big fan of punk ipa. to be honest these 4-5 hop flagship ipa's are usually pretty bland and unispiring. I think they do this so at any point in time they can sub out any hop for another depending on what's available.

It isn’t a bad ale I suppose but I’d enjoy a nice saison, stout, or bitter more.

bought this at tesco yesterday, is quite delicious although a bit sweet and shockingly only 4.5%. it has way more flavour than that would indicate. it makes me think they back sweeten it. definitely a good geuze for the first timers but is no cantillon.

holy **** that hopping schedule is mind numbing. I cannot believe they do 6 dry hop varieties. did you actually follow this exactly?

I agree I drink it often along with Lagunitas ipa, and occasional goose island ipa (which AB really destroyed). they are all good but not remarkable as the flagship concept would make you think. serviceable and caters to the masses, probably why they are flagships.

I thought I did (with the exception of the yeast, I used MJ US West Coast) but I obviously strayed off the path somewhere.
