Still looking for a Weber at the right price...interestingly the gas models come with a patio gas regulator and Weber state if you use any other gas including the same propane that's in a red bottle your warranty is void. To use the red bottle it's a matter of swapping out the regulator. Plus the red bottle propane is much cheaper than the green...

As long as it is big enough to get a crocodile on your laughing.

It’s not as quick though is it? My gas bbq gets up to 250C in five minutes with all burners on and the lid down.

Finally remembered to keep an eye on the timings. Had a full chimney filled for a big steak cook so its a worst case scenario.

15 minutes after lighting the chimney I had this.

and after 5 more minutes in the BBQ I was ready to cook

so, tonight it was 20 minutes in total before rib-eye hit bars, grill temp was 275C.

I spent the time drinking beer in the sun with my son. If it was a race I could probably get to close to coming in 5 minutes behind a gas BBQ, but no better than that. And I’d have less time to spend drinking beer with my son. So that’s a double loss.

If it was the Kamado, it would be more like 30 minutes to steak on grill, but fast and furious cooking on it is an absolute joy and well worth the extra 10 minute wait.

Did a Spatchcock Chicken and drumsticks this evening. Holy Sweet beer Gods! Standard Weber Kettle BBQ with home made tin foil smoker. All was savaged.

I cook curry most weeks.,..outside,rain or shine, snow or hail, day or night...outside. I use a burner as it's the best and easiest option to keep the pan on constant heat and the most convenient method.
I've got a couple of different size paella burners and 5 different size pans, from feeds 4 to feeds 24.
Apart from paella, I've done plenty of curry on the burners.
I've even done kippers for breakfast outside the backdoor using a pan and burner, not allowed to cook them in the house.

Whatever is easiest for you Clint. We love the rough and ready aspect of outside cooking. 😁
I cook outside quite a bit...my Jamie Oliver BBQ is burnt through after at least 5 years use..I've patched it up and replaced the flame tamers but it's knackered..the cabinet and lid are fine, just the firebox is dead...the Weber are aluminium (I think!) So won't burn out or rust..
I'm thinking of getting a Weber kettle though..and making a tandoori oven.

Sounds really good but probably too expensive for us. We’re more the Argos kind of people ha ha! 😂

Lidl had some BBQs this week in the middle aisle. One gas one and two different charcoal kettle types. Gas was £179 but they didn't have one in my local store just the £29 charcoal kettle thing. The other one looked like a kamodo and I believe was £99.

I got the JO from homebase...it was originally about £500 but it went on sale and got the OAP discount by dragging the outlaws round there so paid about £300 for it. I'm not holding out much hope of getting the Weber for much under the £1300 or so they're price fixed at as it seems everyone is waiting on stock delivery. I could probably limp through this year on mine and see if there's any end of season sales or try a cash deal when I find somewhere that's got one without mail order. If I have to wait I'll buy a kettle to play with.

Kamodo? Isn’t that what people used at night before indoor toilets?
