Sorry this is just a shout out to this guy who does a great weekly update in my opinion he is defiantly conservative leaning so please be warned i'm not saying he is neutral or anything but I generally agree with him and here is his latest

I haven't got time to watch it now so can I remind members (especially new ones) of the no Brexit discussion rule.

On the outside looking in the UK is a laughing stock here in Oz, as for the idea of giving broad band to all houses we had a prime minister called Kevin who spent billions implementing broad band or NBB biggest waste of money I have ever seen. I won't go into the insulating of house roofs.

Here in sunny Brittany, the good folk are still utterly confused about British politics and don't seem to know what to think! When we get visitors from Germany and Austria, on the other hand, I'd say they agree with you, Foxy.
What's the thing about insulating roofs? In France there's a move to insulate everything from houses to garages for 1 euro. This means we get scamsters calling 4 or 5 times a day trying to get people to sign up to the scheme with their own cowboy workmen. No doubt it's a genuine state subsidy and the next time they call I'm going to try ans get my greenhouse done.

When the labor government came in to power they had a surplus of money the economic downturn had started so to create jobs they stated a scheme to insulate houses, by putting insulation in to roofs for free. About 3 young lads died through electric shocks, a woman who worked for me had her house done, the men who came to do it took 3 rolls of insulation into the roof and came back out with three. No where near enough to insulate a roof. They also gave a $1000 to every household to spend to keep the economy going, the only thing it kept going was the pokie venues. Thank you Kevin. Reading what Mr Corbin has planned, again as an outsider I would be steering well clear of giving labor a vote.
Doesn't matter what country it is when a socialist government comes to power, they always leave a mess for someone else to take care of.

Clearly the policy wasn't well implemented, no proper oversight. Just threw money at it.

Socialistic governments have been for years in Scandinavian countries, like Sweden, Norway, Denmark - they leading with happiest nation in the world. So I would not be so quick with generalisation. I could say that all right wing governments leave working class people poorer. But this would just be in the same boat.

Talking about broadband, I read article today, and in USA there are lot of places where public owns broadband network (for example Tennessee). When BT was in public hands, when Mrs Thatcher decided to sell it off. It was back than that fibre optic was being developed and planned, but as it was privatised - it was scrapped to continue with copper as it was cheaper.

And on the other hand, here in Belgium Telenet started as a state initiative and is also privatised since a decade or so, but they have been laying fiber since a long time.

Is most uk politics lead by cynicism?

I look at most labour policies and find it hard to think they are not good things, but then I know so many people opposed to them.

As an example, free quality broadband for all... how is it not an appealing thing?

Sweden a happy country? Its now 20% Muslim and bombs are an almost daily occurrence. Then you have the 50+no go zones and the immigration services refusing to deport criminals. Socialism has been so good for that country.

Are you suggesting there is a link Muslims=bombs? As I read, yes there are bombing, but is another gang wars.

"Sweden's crime rate remains one of the lowest in the world. Despite a rise in murders linked to gangs since the 1990s, there has been a reduction in murders linked to domestic violence, hate crime and 'spontaneous fights', meaning the overall homicide rate is lower today than in the early 1990s."
From thelocal.se - this was quoted by Guardian as well
I'm not saying that is OK, for the bombs to go on, but lets maybe not link Muslims to that?

Can we just have a little fact check about this ' Nordic socialist paradise ' thingie?

They do indeed have a lot of things funded by the public purse through highish (about the same level, per capita, as the UK) taxation, but the provision is mostly private companies, including in healthcare and education.

Have you any evidence that it's Muslims doing the bombing as you seem to suggest?
Form what I can tell its immigrant (99%ish muslim) gangs who have all been put into a few areas which have become ghetto like fighting over the drugs trade and other organised crime. Its certainly not like the islamic bombings done in the name of religion more likely a result of putting so many people with nothing to do in the same place when none have had any criminal checks and many who come from tribal groups (and even criminal groups) who already hate each other on ethnic or religious lines. Anyway thats what I have concluded from what ive read and seen but its far from an expert or hands on opinion.

Try asking my Swedish relations if that is true because it sounds ridiculous to me.

Sounds about right to me, then you have the rape epidemic which is not being reported by the MSM. Women are advised not to go out alone in many places even in the daytime.
There is a graph here "List of grenade attacks in Sweden". Over 200 bombs so far this year. In my mother in laws local town any immigrants who have tried to integrate and open shops have had them burned down. All the shops in the mall are closing and its not even safe. She does not like going out anymore and its gotten a lot worse in even the last 5 years.

OK, Sweden - bombs, what about their health service, mental health provision, youth service. What about in Finland, Denmark , Norway. I still think life looks better in those countries. And the happiest nation in the world is Finland according to United Nation report, unless you just don't believe this report.

If you want the same to keep going of course vote conservative. I believe we need change, people deserve better than food banks and gig economy. Austerity was just ideological project.

I know three people who had the pink batts installed. Two rusted on Liberal supporters. They were more than happy with the installation.
Your friend didn't sign the form and send it off to the government did she? If she didn't sign the form all well and good. If she did, well what can I say......

The Aussies I know wouldn't give a fig about British politics regarding the election. The only discussions I've had have been about the thing beginning with B that can't be mentioned.
Honestly the vast majority of people I know here would never discuss politics of any kind. Most of the people I know are too concerned about job security, paying mortgages etc and
not interested in the slightest what is happening half way around the world.

Yep, Thoughts and Prayers to the Pokie players. Keeping the economy strong.

I think that as far as Australia is concerned, before Britain went into the EU or Common Market as it was called then around 95% of Australian produce was exported to the UK. I would like to think that the UK opening its doors to the Australian market after the UK leaves the strangle hold that it is in at the moment then the economy of Australia would be better off. I am not saying that the exports to the UK would be what it was pre the Common Market but both countries would be better off. I think one of the politicians summed it up well the UK has the commonwealth to trade with why bother with something that at the end of the day supports Germany.
As for the pokies I was one who supported them coming into Victoria but I was wrong, there is nothing more depressing than to walk through a pokie venue and see the punters emptying their hard earned into a machine. A guy who worked for me was addicted to pokies, I still felt it was my money which I had paid to him. In the end I paid him by cheque payable to his wife and a small amount paid to him in cash. Pokies are something which should be banned Australia wide.
