Sorry this is just a shout out to this guy who does a great weekly update in my opinion he is defiantly conservative leaning so please be warned i'm not saying he is neutral or anything but I generally agree with him and here is his latest
Here in sunny Brittany, the good folk are still utterly confused about British politics and don't seem to know what to think! When we get visitors from Germany and Austria, on the other hand, I'd say they agree with you, Foxy.On the outside looking in the UK is a laughing stock here in Oz, as for the idea of giving broad band to all houses we had a prime minister called Kevin who spent billions implementing broad band or NBB biggest waste of money I have ever seen. I won't go into the insulating of house roofs.
When the labor government came in to power they had a surplus of money the economic downturn had started so to create jobs they stated a scheme to insulate houses, by putting insulation in to roofs for free. About 3 young lads died through electric shocks, a woman who worked for me had her house done, the men who came to do it took 3 rolls of insulation into the roof and came back out with three. No where near enough to insulate a roof. They also gave a $1000 to every household to spend to keep the economy going, the only thing it kept going was the pokie venues. Thank you Kevin. Reading what Mr Corbin has planned, again as an outsider I would be steering well clear of giving labor a vote. Here in sunny Brittany, the good folk are still utterly confused about British politics and don't seem to know what to think! What's the thing about insulating roofs? In France there's a move to insulate everything from houses to garages for 1 euro. This means we get scamsters calling 4 or 5 times a day trying to get people to sign up to the scheme with their own cowboy workmen. No doubt it's a genuine state subsidy and the next time they call I'm going to try ans get my greenhouse done.
And on the other hand, here in Belgium Telenet started as a state initiative and is also privatised since a decade or so, but they have been laying fiber since a long time.Clearly the policy wasn't well implemented, no proper oversight. Just threw money at it.
Socialistic governments have been for years in Scandinavian countries, like Sweden, Norway, Denmark - they leading with happiest nation in the world. So I would not be so quick with generalisation. I could say that all right wing governments leave working class people poorer. But this would just be in the same boat.
Talking about broadband, I read article today, and in USA there are lot of places where public owns broadband network (for example Tennessee). When BT was in public hands, when Mrs Thatcher decided to sell it off. It was back than that fibre optic was being developed and planned, but as it was privatised - it was scrapped to continue with copper as it was cheaper.
Sweden a happy country? Its now 20% Muslim and bombs are an almost daily occurrenc
Form what I can tell its immigrant (99%ish muslim) gangs who have all been put into a few areas which have become ghetto like fighting over the drugs trade and other organised crime. Its certainly not like the islamic bombings done in the name of religion more likely a result of putting so many people with nothing to do in the same place when none have had any criminal checks and many who come from tribal groups (and even criminal groups) who already hate each other on ethnic or religious lines. Anyway thats what I have concluded from what ive read and seen but its far from an expert or hands on opinion.Have you any evidence that it's Muslims doing the bombing as you seem to suggest?
Try asking my Swedish relations if that is true because it sounds ridiculous to me.Are you suggesting there is a link Muslims=bombs? As I read, yes there are bombing, but is another gang wars.
"Sweden's crime rate remains one of the lowest in the world. Despite a rise in murders linked to gangs since the 1990s, there has been a reduction in murders linked to domestic violence, hate crime and 'spontaneous fights', meaning the overall homicide rate is lower today than in the early 1990s."
From thelocal.se - this was quoted by Guardian as well
I'm not saying that is OK, for the bombs to go on, but lets maybe not link Muslims to that?

I do miss seeing how far a B thread will get before it gets locked though!I haven't got time to watch it now so can I remind members (especially new ones) of the no Brexit discussion rule.
I know three people who had the pink batts installed. Two rusted on Liberal supporters. They were more than happy with the installation. When the labor government came in to power they had a surplus of money the economic downturn had started so to create jobs they stated a scheme to insulate houses, by putting insulation in to roofs for free. Doesn't matter what country it is when a socialist government comes to power, they always leave a mess for someone else to take care of.
