During my studies at the Vossy college of Knowledge I have worked out that the PT100 on a herms seems to be sited on the outlet of the HX...

I have also seen a system where the PT100 sits in the wall of the HLT... driving a heater in the HX

Now which location provides the most accurate and stable mash temp....

Also logic tells me that the PT100 should sit in the centre of the mash to give the most accurate Mash ?

Great Guru's of Brew , gime your thoughts?

No Guru's about then.
It has to go in the outlet of the H.E. to properly control the temperature. There would be a massive lag if it was anywhere else and the temp out would shoot up over target, due to this. :? ;)
It is useful to know H.E. input / mash tun temp, but there can be a fair bit of variation in the tun, which can be monitored .with a wandering probe. Have modified my kit to monitor H.E.in temp for next brew.
Hoped to do one today, but didn't manage an early start. ;)
