Aaah, what a discovery.

Finally, I have found an equal to my favourite, Ritchie's Festival Oaked Apple Cider. I am not a big fan of additives, and I could not for the life of me tell you what the little pouch of dark liquid is that makes this ‘black’ cider, well…black – or rather a shade of it. I put it in, just in case you wondered.

However, this is absolutely lovely. It is well-rounded, full-flavoured, with a good deal of background sweetness (without being sweet!!!) that is finely balanced by a gentle acidity. Above all, it actually tastes of apple. Strangely enough, in the world of kit-derived ciders not something one can take for granted.

It is way better than WobblyGob Great Barr Gold from the same stable.
