    Evening all

On Wednesday night I decided Friday was going to be a brew day as I had a day off, so I decided to make a yeast starter from washed yeast.

Woke up this morning with a million and one things to complete and cut a long story short my grainfather a sparge heater has packed in.

How long can I keep the starter? Is just a letter of putting it back in the fridge until I get my sparge heater sorted?

Yeah it'll keep fine in the fridge under the beer. How long you leaving it? It will lose viability but it's around 20% per month so not too urgent. I overbuild and store yeast this way all the time, for months at a time.

Do a 75C mash out and cold sparge.

I managed to fix the sparge heater there a rest button underneath which I found out of pure luck. So I put a brew on late yesterday afternoon and the fermenter was bubbling away nicely this morning.
