Has anyone heard from Dutto?
Not seen any posts for a wee while
I'm worried, too. If you're recovering from surgery, there's not much more you can do than watch porn on your tablet, log into the forum for a bit of a reality check, drink gin and smoke Old Holborn. So where is the lad?
Last seen April 26th. Speak to us, Dutto.

To be fair I reckon he'll be too angry to type after the Cummings fiasco this afternoon!

Hmm.. this is why I hold the press in low regard.. plenty of non-social distancing there, unless all the photographers are brothers or living in the same household in

An interesting aside to this conversation.
I have just found out that Cummings sister is on the board of a private company who are working on the IT side of Covid. They also have fingers in the pie of national & local government plus the EU Commision. (IDOX plc)
Also Gaxo Smithcline's Covid response is being run from the Barnard castle area.
I smell something dodgy going on.

This guy is taking the ****. I can't see properly so take wife and brat in a car and go for a joy ride. Lie. Can't get child care, Lie.
why has he not had his licence taken off him? Selfish git only concerned about himself. If I had 1 pint of beer and drove my car here in Scotland I would get banned. if you believe him he had trouble seeing could only drive for 15miles before he had to stop, is this not dangerous driving? He has shown no care for other road users or his family. WE ARE PAYING HIS WAGE. I FOR ONE AM NOT HAPPY ABOUT THIS.
There is only one word for this scum, cu*t.

This guy is one of the most important person in the current government. Please don't tell me there wouldn't be any help offered to him from his employer, same when it comes to he didn't feel safe at home - again his employer could make arrangement, like security people around his house.
And why he can't work from home? Does he need to be physically there? I though he is employed to use his brain ?!

His child care explanation is nowhere in the rules, he kept repeating small child care - word small is not there. And exception does not allow to drive to your family member for child care (does allow travel to provide childcare),
The only exception to travel for childcare is:

(i)to access critical public services, including—
(I)childcare or educational facilities (where these are still available to a child in relation to whom that person is the parent, or has parental responsibility for, or care of the child);

So only childcare from critical public services - his family is not critical public service - he broke the rules !

I watched his press conference this morning in entirety. Like him or loathe him( I know which I prefer!), he is a very clever man, and made a very clever selection of words, that skimmed along a legal border and veered into grey area. It's a carefully orchestrated melange of suggestions and excuses that give him enough leeway to potentially "get away with it" He only needs to "get away with it" as far as the Tory grandees are concerned, as he know the general public can go to hell in a handbasket and have to live with it.
People like him have existed in politics forever, and sadly they are still around and are likely to always be around. Frankly they are dangerous, and damaging people to have in power.
What's that old term? "Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely"

The thing that got me with the DC statement is the claim he went for a drive to test his eyesight. He is being heralded as a great father in what he did but if I was unsure about my sight I would not have driven with my wife and child in the car.

This is a thing of beauty. Telegraph crossword compiler Tim King has worked out that :

STAY ALERT; CONTROL THE VIRUS; SAVE LIVES anagrams to EASILY SURVIVES TRAVEL NORTH TO CASTLE

I find it unusual to say the least about how the media attacked Trump over "Russia gate" Yet Cummings worked directly for Boris Yeltsin for over three years, married into a Ukrainian linked pro Russian family & his project for Yeltsin was a complete disaster. His motto is to "break things that don't work" & his family are heavily linked with medicine & bankers so I worry about the plans for the NHS. He gives me no confidence whatsoever. I do believe that journalists are non existent in this country but are paid to ask "The right" questions. The government has declared it is to become the greatest money tree for national/ local newspapers. I fear for all our futures.

Right, let's get the controversial stuff out of the way first!

Cummings knows where Tory Skeletons are buried. Because of this he doesn't need to apologise, he doesn't need to resign and the chances of him being sacked are next to zero!

I give you two quotes:
  1. A question to Boris yesterday: "Is it that you can't do you job without the assistance of Mr. Cummins?" I considered this a very fair question.
  2. "I have often gone for a drive to check my eyesight." A real "No Sh1t Sherlock" moment from Mr. Gove who apparently took seven attempts to pass his driving test!
I had very little confidence in this Government before this incident and now I have none!

PART TWO

Okay, where have I been?

It's along story that starts on 25th February with a new hip!

After nearly six weeks of convalescence I went out for a walk with SWMBO and after about 1km of great walking without pain I returned to the house ... athumb..

... and promptly fell as I entered the house. :coat::coat:

Six weeks to the day after my new hip operation (7th April) I was back in hospital having a "periprosthetic fracture to my left femur" repaired. (This is where a pillock manages to fracture a bone between two previous operations. In my case between a fractured femur in 1967, a Total Knee Replacement in 2015 and the Hip Replacement previously mentioned!)

Six weeks later (18th May) having been told to NOT put any weight on my newly repaired femur I went for an x-ray and was told that there was insufficient bone growth to allow me to put more than "touch pressure" (still trying to work out what that means!) on the repair for another six weeks!

I have an appointment with the surgeon and x-ray machine for 29th June! Here's hoping!

On the brewing front I handed everything over to SWMBO on 7th April. As far as I am aware:
  1. "There was a hissing sound when I unscrewed the jubilee clip; but it has stopped now." It will have stopped because the CO2 bottle is empty so "Bye bye!" to 20 litres of bitter in 2 x 10 litre growlers. BTW, the tubing has quick release connections and there is never any need to undo a jubilee clip.
  2. "I tried to pull you a pint off the big white keg you have. It started 'glugging' so I left it." "Bye bye!" to about 15 litres of Lager in the KK Top Tap PB. With air running back into it I've given up.
  3. There is 23 litres of Lager still "Cold Crashing" in the Brew Fridge. It's been there since I dropped the temperature down to 10*C on 31st March (shortly before my periprosthetic fracture) so I presume that by now it is ruined!
Ah well, I still have 60 litres of Kits available when I feel fit enough to get out there and do something constructive.

Today I have managed to get dressed, get some gravlax in the fridge, sort out the sauce for tonight's pulled pork, have two games of cards and answer this message. I am knackered and will probably sleep all afternoon.

I will try and start to contribute more in the future ... athumb..

... if only to condemn this pathetic bunch of politicians who are allegedly "governing" the UK.

Nice to hear from you, Dutto. I think you're being too nice on the Gov't, though.
