Hi folks,

Looking to brew something for those long hot summer days that we rarely get in Scotland! Originally I was going to just do a Jarl clone, pale malt and citra but then Ive got a shed load of crystal malts lying around that Ive not used for ages so thought lets mix it up a bit! So Im going with around 5% medium crystal and citra at 5 mins, 20min hop stand and 70g for a 3 day dry hop, this should come out around 4%, does this sound ok? I used to always use 5% light or medium crystal but honestly cant remember the last pale ale I used it in (and thats pretty much all I brew nowadays!)

I do also have el-dorado and some galaxy hops left as well, but dont want to overdo this one, I want a nice, more'ish easy drinking session pale

I think that's still going to give you something quite hoppy.
I guess that's what you're after.

My attempts at a more balanced ~3% British pale ale go something like this:

10-15g magnum
20-30g of your favourite hop at 30min
30g of your favourite hop at flameout.
10-20 minutes cooling in the kettle, then out to the FV.

Do you use crystal and do you dry hop? I think I dry hop all my pale ale, but have wondered about a bigger flame out charge and no dry hop
