To the 18 members who have expressed an interest in trialling a Grainfather (I keep wanting to type GF, but that could be misconstrued) - to keep you up to date - I have spoken with Paul at GF (there, grew a pair) with a plan of how we can best manage this. As long as he is content, I will be in touch to finalise things. Getting close, I hope...

Great news MM. I have currently saved £380 towards one so if things go well I might buy one in September and get my first AG brew done and bottled for Christmas festivities.

Well done manse. I could well be a customer of theirs in the future if this trial comes off and goes well. Good to see them (so far at least) engaging with the folks on places like this.

Im aware the thread is closed but was wondering if i might be able to throw my hat into the trial ring please? Saw these when they were first launched about 3-4 months back and love the idea. Would be a big step from kit beers but i dont fancy faffing with BIAB, this grainfather is the daddy by the looks of it. I'll have to deffinately bank all my brownie points but i reckon i'd be allowed if it was kept in the shed

PM me. Sure we can work something out!

Well done MM.

I think they might benefit from an order or two from triallers and interested onlookers, so I can see why they are up for this. I know that they have had demo kit out via LHBS's as I have seen the videos on YouTube so I guess trials = sales!

I see it as canny business sense - very little risk v a lot of publicity. Innis and Gunn have just posted they have been trialling it, but around 20 homebrewers reports is worth a lot more I think. That's their market after all. More importantly to me, anyone interested can 'try before they buy' - a rare opportunity these days....

I agree. I thought about buying one after seeing the trials thread then doing extensive research. I too saw a blog from someone who trialed it and wrote something like "you can build your own for a lot cheaper but the Grainfather comes with a guarantee" so it kind of put me off because it's so expensive and I don't know for certain how benificial an all in 1 will be over different parts and the extra space needed. I'm saving for one but it's a lot to pay out and I need some big convincing that the space saving and efficiency out way the cost. I look forward to hearing everyone's views on mash, sparge and lauter using the GF compared to boil pots and mash bins.

Outweigh, not out way. Sorry I'm using the app on my phone and must have done a typo that was auto corrected. I must learn to check my text before hitting send [emoji6]

Watched this interesting vid about the Grainfather yesterday..... Certainly a nice bit of gear.

The only thing it lacks for me is the ability to set mash profiles. Also I know the pump gets clogged a fair bit.
Will be interesting to see everyone's feedback on them though

I'm sure I read somewhere that they're looking at an optional pid, that said its not hard to change the mash temp you just have to do it manually.

The pump does clog but that's easily remedied by putting the hops in Muslin bags.

Im really pleased with mine, in fact I love it although I can't really compare it to a typical 3 vessel setup as I'd only done a few small ag batches before.

I think personally I wil wait and see what comes from the feedback the company get. I'm glad you like your system, if we all did the same life would be boring.

Has anyone who has one or tested one checked the temperature is the same as what the display says? My first test would be 10 litres of water taken from 20 C to 100 C in 5 degree increments to see how accurate it was through the range.

I can vouch that your beers are as good as any 3v setup. After trying some they are pushing me closer to investing in the Graifather
