Just got my first AG in the FV.
5 litre batch, recipe that i worked out had an OG of 1.037, hit 1.038, joy:lol:
Had a spot of bother getting the mash temp right, got a bit of a lumpy mix in the grain bag as well:doh: got there in the end and once on the boil i was much happier.

Top work mate.....
strangely Im just doing some 'calibration' experiments with my electric fan assisted oven,(as I type this) which will just hold my 15l stock pot. Ive found that on the minimum setting, after whizzing up to about 77 degrees then settled down to about 66 degrees, so its perfect for mashing!!
You may want to consider this, since it beats using quilts etc.
What was your recipe BTW??? Im intrigued.

Mmmmm interesting Robin:thumb:I assume you turned the oven off and not down whilst mashing?
I punched an ordinary bitter recipe through recipe builder. Basically Maris Otter,Crystal 90L and some Carahell, Challenger hops at start and Fuggles at 80c for some aroma.

Left the oven running on the minimum setting which the dial said was 50. It initially went up to 77, so opened the door for 20 seconds, shut it and a steady 66ish was maintained. Im definatey going to try this with the next AG brew next week...when my order arrives(!) Going to do another Chinook smash. The last one was rather yummy.

Ok, interesting:thumb:
I have a fair amount of extract yet to get through, but if this AG attempt comes out ok i shall go down that route more often.
Cheers

Tested this today and it's spot on at 1.008,going to rack it later and possibly bottle next week.
Had a taster from the trial jar and must say i was well impressed:thumb:
